The fate of Hall County's Courthouse may still be undecided, but the replacement for a District Judge who retired from the county in January has now been determined.
Today Governor Heineman announced the appointment of 5th District Judge Rachel Daugherty. Daugherty has been a private practice attorney in Grand Island since 2000. Prior to that, she served as Deputy County Attorney in the Hall County Attorney's Office.
With the replacement of retired District Judge Michael Owens now in place, the courthouse has returned to 3 district judges in an already crowded courthouse. Hall County Supervisors continue to debate the fate of that courthouse and the possibility of an addition or renovation.
