Hastings, Kearney and Five Time state defending champion Grand Island all have high hopes this weekend.

They expect excellent performances in the 3 day state wrestling tournament

After seeing the Class B and C matches on News 5 at Six, we go to the Class A and D matches tonight.

Brandon Kile of the Hastings Tigers is onto the semi-finals. He wins two matches including a close 7-6 decision against Skylar Schmidt of Grand Island. Brandon wins the match 7-6 on the ultimate tiebreaker and joins defending 120 pound champ Nolan Laux into the semifinals tomorrow.

In the 126 pound class Damon Rodriguts won with a dominating 7-0 decision and is through to the quarterfiansl.

Dante Rodriguez who won the state title in 2013 defeats Errich Holston with a pin,he is perfect at 39=8-0 and onto the semi-finals.

Grand Island’s Chase Reis won his match and is on his way to the semifinals. He is 43-0 and defending champ at 215. Edjar Rojas also is into the semis for the Islanders, one of four in the semifinals but far below expectations since they brought ten wrestlers.
