As Grand Island pushes for growth, is there room for everyone to live?

The Economic Development Council and the Community Redevelopment Authority have ordered a new housing study for the city.  The study the city is currently using was completed in 2008.

The new study will look at Grand Island's housing, incomes and jobs to determine where the city is lacking.

Denise McGovern-Gallagher, Executive Assistant at the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation, said she expects the study to find a need for housing in all income ranges.  Especially what she called starter homes-- costing less than $120,000.

The study is expected to be complete in mid-February.
