As Better Wages Nebraska is officially one step closer to raising the minimum wage, the group opposing the wage hike says they're not concerned.

Doug Kagan with Nebraskans For Freedom says he was expecting the group to gather the needed registered voter signatures.

The Secretary of State's Office announced yesterday the group gathered nearly 90,000 verified signatures. They needed 80,386.

The ballot measure will ask Nebraskans about gradually raising the minimum wage from 7-25 an hour to 9 dollars an hour by 2016.

Kagan tells News 5 he and his fellow group members plan to travel the state after Labor Day, encouraging voters to cast their ballot against the measure in November.
