Harold F.V. Kreutzer, 88 of Holdrege, formerly of Odessa, died January 18, 2014 at the Christian Homes in Holdrege. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst with Pastor Bill Heermann, Pastor Kenton Birtell, and Vicar Dan Wiese officiating. Burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst, Christian Homes in Holdrege, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Harold was born west of Pleasanton, Nebraska in Rusco Township on November 10, 1925 to John and Esther (Matzner) Kreutzer. He was baptized at St. Paul’s “Peake” Lutheran Church north of Riverdale on November 22, 1925. He was confirmed on April 17, 1949 in St. John’s Lutheran Church near Poole, Nebraska.

He attended school for eight years at District 73 “Sartoria”. He married Evelyn Reese at St. John’s on September 5, 1948. Their first home was in Scott Township near Amherst, Nebraska. They moved to the “home” place in Sartoria Township in 1954 and to Odessa, Nebraska in 1976. He entered Christian Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska in January 2013.

Harold farmed and raised livestock with his father, worked at the sale barns in Kearney and later was weigh master at the Huss Platte Valley barn in Kearney. He eventually quit farming and worked for Dr. Bob Nootz at his veterinary Clinic. He retired in 1990.

Harold enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and tinkering in the shop.

Harold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Kreutzer of Holdrege, NE, son Don Kreutzer of Amherst, NE, daughters; Sharon Kreutzer of Holdrege, NE, Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson and her husband Jamie of Blue Hill, NE, grandchildren; Rhonda Dicke and her husband Scott of Lakewood, CO, Chad Kreutzer and his wife Codi of Amherst, NE, Katelyn and Jacob Hodson of Blue Hill, NE, great grandchildren; Claire and Cami Kreutzer and Eric Dicke, step-sister, Lenore Faber of Minden, NE, brothers-in-law; Ed Reese of Kearney, NE, Everett Reese and his wife Lettie of Lincoln, NE, sisters-in-law; Dorothy Heinzman of McMinnville, OR, Margery Reese of Iowa City, IA, Eileen Metz and her husband Dave of Kearney, NE, Lori Kiper of Burleson, TX, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Albert Steiner, brothers-in-law; Carl Reese, Walter Reese and his wife Lorena, Art Reese and his wife Margaret, sisters-in-law; Margaret (Reese) Thompson and her husband Glenn, Alice (Reese) Kersting and her husband Forest, step-brother, Mervin Steiner, step-sister Ruth Mack, and his beloved daughter-in-law Connie Kreutzer.
