In the NFL they wear pink cleats to spread breast cancer awareness...

Central Nebraskans have a similar idea, but they're not wearing football spikes.

The Hastings Surgical Center held their second annual Stiletto Sprint today.

Racers paid 10 dollars to race in high heels.

Half the money raised will go to a Central Nebraska breast cancer patient.

The other half will go to a national breast cancer foundation.

Donations are also being accepted.

The surgical center feels this year's event is a big improvement from 20–12.

"It's a lot of fun to be able to dress up and do an event that spreads awareness within your community and not just on a national level,” Brooke Day of the Hastings Surgical Center said.

October is breast cancer awareness month...
