For the second year in a row Hastings High students have taken home a state title for automobile skills.

The students won the state championship title of the Ford and AAA Student Auto Skills Challenge.

Last year was the first time the school won in nearly 40 years.

DJ Maar and Micah Runyon from the automotive mechanic class through the high school and CCC, were up against ten other teams from around the state.

They had to find and fix "bugs" or problems with the car.

"I thought it was pretty cool because my sister went when she was a senior and she didn't do very well, I got to redeem her I guess." Said DJ Maar.

"A lot of pressure, just not realizing what all was happening and then it's over in the blink of an eye, you kind of lose yourself in it. It's like whoa it's over." Said Micah Runyon.

Each of them earned more than $30,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Now the team is headed to the national competition in Dearborn, Michigan on June 8th to see if they can win again.
