Hastings Public Schools officials are working out the last hurdle for the school's 21.5 million dollar bond issue. This just four weeks before residents head to the polls.
Tonight at the Hastings Public School Board work session District Director of Finance Jeff Schneider pitched a bussing plan. If the bond to renovate the elementary schools passes, students from Alcott Elementary will attend school at Morton during the second phase of construction. Schneider says buses will be available at Alcott to take kids to Morton.
"I think for those families who are not able to transport their student by vehicle to school, I think for a lot of families this will be the best option."
He said the buses will cost an estimated 40,000 dollars.
