Governor Heineman is accusing state lawmakers of trading votes. According to the Nebraska Watchdog, Heineman said Omaha Senator Heath Mello, Appropriations Committee Chairman, is working to divert state water funds to help Omaha pay for its 2 billion dollar sewer system overhaul.
The Committee has approved 31 million dollars for water project. Mello did acknowledge that he is negotiating with Senator Tom Carlson and the Natural Resources Committee to make sure a portion of those funds are used on Omaha's sewer project.
The Governor also accused state senators of overspending, instead of adding more tax relief.
