Governor Dave Heineman has a message for Washington's lawmakers:

Talk it out by Christmas or don't take a break.

He agrees with the President on at least one thing—this was all unnecessary.

The governor called yesterday's deal long overdue, saying it should have happened before September 30th.

"America first," is the vision he feels lawmakers should have.

Both parties are currently in disarray, if you ask Heineman.

The governor says this kind of conflict would never happen in Nebraska.

And that Washington could take a page from governors all across the country.

"We get the job done on time. We have strong opinions. We work with our legislature,” Heineman said. “At the end of the day, we find common sense solutions."

Heineman again stated his belief that both parties are responsible for the mess in Washington.

Do you approve, or disapprove, of work done this session in the Nebraska state legislature?
