A controversial lecture will be held at the University of Nebraska at Kearney; the topic... the resurrection of Jesus.

New Testament scholar and historian Michael Licona will be holding a presentation Thursday called "Did Jesus really rise from the dead?"

Licona, an associate professor of theology at Houston Baptist University, will discuss historical evidence related to the resurrection of Jesus.

The event is sponsored by the UNK student organization Reasonable Faith.

Some critics are upset with the topic, but organizers say it's an opportunity for students to discuss the subject with an historical expert.

Professor Licona has spoken at more than 50 schools and appeared on dozens of radio and TV programs.

The event begins at 7 pm Thursday at the UNK Health and Sports Center.
