Many Husker fans probably look at it this way. The team now has 3 quarterbacks that have seen significant game action....
Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong made his 3rd start in for Taylor Martinez, still struggling with that turf toe injury.
Tommy did struggle against Purdue with just 6 completions and 3 interceptions.
It really didn't matter as the Huskers put this one away easily.
For a 3rd straight game Ron Kellogg came in off the bench and played well with 10 completions and a touchdown pass.
So this bye week seems to come at a good time for all three quarterbacks.
"I talked to coach Beck after the game and he said it's hard to be a redshirt freshman at a road game and be able to handle it. I felt I did allright but honestly mistakes were made and you know it could have cost us the game and that's something I've go to figure out", said quarterback Tommy Armstrong.
"He's down, he's a competitor and he wants to win and he doesn't like to play bad. I just told him that if he ever thought he was going to play quarterback and never throw an interception he's crazy", said offensive coordinator Tim Beck..
"Obviously when Taylor comes back and is healthy I;m going to support him just like I did Tommy. If my number is called, I'll go out there and execute. It's been awesome, I've loved every moment of it. It doesn't take away from the other four years I've had just because I'm playing doesn't change my thought process", said Quarterback Ron Kellogg.
Taylor was at the game Saturday in a walking boot, something he hopes to get rid of between now and the Minnesota game October 26th in Minneapolis.
Coach Pelini said Taylor would like to be in there but won't go until he's ready.
There is no doubt once he is healthy, the senior from Corona, California will be back in there.
