Yes, it was plenty of work, a demanding spring for the Nebraska football players and the coaching staff but Saturday's red–white scrimmage was a great opportunity to have fun..

Those light moments included allowing the cheerleaders and Scarlets calling the plays.

With the help of offensive coordinator Tim Beck, one of the members of the Yell squad put on the headset to make the calls.

The cheerlead squad actually called more successful plays than the Scarlet dance team.

It was just one of the unique twists of the scrimmage which concluded spring practice.

In the game itself, running back Imani Cross, who scored 2 touchdowns, summed it up.

It'll be about 4 months until the team reconviens in Lincoln for fall camp and the season opener August 30th.

As coach Bo Pelini said, he feels the team has potential to be very good, but it's going to be up to the individual players to stay ready for the season to come.

Challanging road games at places like Fresno State, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Iowa await the Big Red.
