That is Big 10 leading scorer Terran Petteway of the Huskers about his coaching staff and how he expected to be right where he is today, at the NCAA Tournament in San Antonio and ready to play Baylor tomorrow.

It is no surprise the transfer from Texas Tech has become a leader of the team since coming here to Nebraska. Coach Tim Miles recruited Terran out of high school in Galveston,Texas when Tim was at Colorado State before he became Husker coach 2 years ago.

One thing is for sure, Terran is glad to play for Nebraska and the Huskers are glad to have him.

WE'LL ALWAYS CALL COACHES FOR EXTRA WORKOUTS FOR EXTRA PRACTICES  EXTRA SHOOTING ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO GET BETTER AND ONCE I SEEN THAT I KNEW WE WERE GOING TO BE GOOD IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF WHEN.  YOU KNOW THINGS DIDN'T GO WELL FOR ME AT TECH, I DON'T WANT TO GET INTO IT. I MOVED ON FROM IT BUT THE REASON I WENT TO NEBRASKA BECAUSE COACH MILES AND COACH SMITH WERE THE FIRST COACHES THAT RECRUITED ME WHEN THEY WERE AT COLORADO STATE  SO ONCE I PUT IN MY REQUEST TO TRANSFER THEY WERE THE FIRST PEOPLE I CALLED AND ASKED IF THEY STILL WANT ME TO PLAY FOR THEM AND THEY SAID YES AND IT WAS NO MORE TALKING AFTER THAT I WENT TO NEBRASKA, SIGNED MY LETTER OF INTENT AND THAT'S HOW IT GOT DONE.

As we mentioned here on News 5 earlier, Coach Miles is one of 15 Finalists for the Jim Phelan Award as national coach of the year...

He's drawn admiration from fellow coaches and his players really want to capture that first NCAA basketball victory for Nebraska.

The coach feels they have prepare well for tomorrow.

We're glad to be here and we want to take the next step and have good practices, now have the distractions of the fans and wonderful media, but Once you have a leader like Terran Petteway saying coach at 8 o'clock tonight you have to take our phones, then I know we have a team locked in.

He has done a great job wherever he's been and I like his energy, it is great to watch other programs to see how well they do and there is no doubt he has done a good job.

It'll be the Huskers with Terran and Shavon trying to get to the basket against that tall front line of Baylor with Isiah Austin and Cory Jefferson.

The Huskers will need good games out of the supporting cast in order to win the game and move on to a Sunday contest in the field of 32.
