It's one of the best high school football rivalries in the state of Nebraska

Grand Island and Kearney ...renewing pleasantries tomorrow night at memorial stadium in GI

But the two teams enter the contest ...on very different notes

Islanders ...flying high ...out of the gates 3 and 1

While the Bearcats a 1 and three record

And enter the game on the heels of a 19 to 7 loss to Millard North

But the Islanders say can throw the records out the window when it comes to this rivalry

"I think it's good. it's always a good game. Very competitive. Two teams play awful hard and the fans support both their teams so it makes for a good high school football game."

"It gets really intense on the field. A lot of kids don't like each other but just take it like every other game and play hard."

"Just the first game of districts. It's like we're both a clean slate, 0–0 so we have to come out and get the win."
