Welcome back to the 2014 Nebraska State Fair where we are still having a "Bumper Crop" of fun.

When Barney Cotton was head football coach at Hastings College in the mid 9–'s his 3 sons were very young.

Who knew that years later all 3 would play for Nebraska, he would coach there and one of them would be co–captain of the Huskers...

When coach Bo Pleini announced the captains of the team this week as Nebrsaka gets set to open the season against Florida Atlantic, it became a family moment.

Senior offensive lineman Jake Cotton is one of three captains on offense joining Ameer Abdullah and Kenny Bell. Jake's father is of course assistant coach Barney Cotton who was the first to congraduate his son.

.Jake started 11 of 13 games for the Huskrs last season. He'll start at left guard in Saturday's game. The former Lincoln Southeast star said it's been a long road through college but worth it.

Jake's older brother Ben who graduated after the 2012 season and younger brother Sam who's a freshman both play tight end both coached by their father who himself is a former Huskers standout and NFL Offensive Lineman is is a former Husker standout and NFL offensive lineman with the then St. Louis Cardinals so this Nebraska football program is a big deal for the Cotton family.

Of course Barney Cotton is former head coach of the Hastings Broncos in 1995 and '96.. Jake was just four years old back then living here in Hastings and who knew he would grow up to be 6–6 305 and be co–captain of the Nebraska football team.
