The race for mayor of Grand Island is now down to two candidates who will battle it out in November.
Incumbent mayor Jay Vavricek is out. That means City Council president Chuck Hasse and financial advisor and soccer coach Jeremy Jensen will move forward.
Jeremy Jensen came out on top with almost 44 percent of the votes. Hasse in a close second with 40 percent. And Mayor Vavricek with 16.37 percent of the votes.
"Not to take anything away from Jay. I think it's just the voters were looking for change. Sometimes that change is needed to actually progress and I think that's just basically what it came down to."
