The family made their home in Beaver City, Nebraska until moving to Elm Creek, Nebraska, where Jerry received his education.

On February 4, 1968 he was united in marriage to Barbara Jo Schleeter and to this union three children were born: Bill, Jerilyn and Shelly. Jerry also hauled fertilizer and grain for Ag Valley CO-OP out of Edison. He also enjoyed welding at Broeker Welding for several years. His work ethic will be remembered by his family, and as Jerry continued to say, “I’m going to retire next year.”

Jerry’s hobbies included: restoring antique tractors, woodworking, especially creations out of old barn wood, and collecting antique saws. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed coon hunting, loved to fish and play cards. Most of all, Jerry loved the time spent with his grandchildren. In the years past, he spent over twenty-five years between the Edison and Oxford Volunteer Fire Departments.

He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
