A Celebration of Life Service for Justin W. Fisher will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darren Stroh officiating. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Industry Cemetery near Atlanta, Nebraska.
Justin Wade Fisher, 35 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Nebraska Medical Center – Clarkson Tower in Omaha, Nebraska. A month ago, Justin was diagnosed with cancer and fought a courageous battle against Leukemia.
Justin was born October 5, 1978 at Sidney, Nebraska, a twin to his brother, Jeremy and the third of four sons born to Larry and Sally (Hernandez) Fisher. He began his education at Minatare, Nebraska and then completed his high school years at Chadron, Nebraska High School with the class of 1998. Justin then pursued higher education at Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska.
While in college he met the love of his life, Micki Lynn Freeland. They were united in marriage on October 10, 2009 at Smith Falls State Park at Valentine, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two children: Jonah Izak and Ridley Joe. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Justin was employed by Family Medical Specialties and Becton-Dickinson.
Justin enjoyed sharing his love of fishing with his boys and he was a strong advocate for the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life. Most of all, Justin loved the time spent with his family and friends, especially the little ones, that called him, Uncle Jerky. He had the ability to make anyone laugh with his sense of humor and personality. He enjoyed traveling, and making memories with his family. He will be remembered for his big heart, and willingness to reach out to anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry on January 16, 2013 and all of his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Justin leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Micki Fisher of Holdrege; two sons: Jonah and Ridley Fisher of Holdrege; his mother, Sally Fisher of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three brothers: D. Boots and his fiancé, Jamie of Muskogee, Todd Fisher and his wife, Galina of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and his twin brother, Jeremy Fisher and his wife, Rebecca of New Auburn, Wisconsin; step-mother, Debbie Fisher of Burleson, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Terry and Beverly Freeland of Atlanta, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Cody Freeland and his wife, Tami of Atlanta; nieces and nephews: Tyler, Ashley, Marissa, Charles, Jacob, Hailey, Trevor and Harper; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Justin’s honor and kindly suggested to the Justin Fisher Benefit Fund in support of his children.
