When we watch the high school football teams play this season, it's likely none will be more exciting than the Kearney Catholic Stars..

They could be playing football well into November and it wouldn't be a suprise if play in that last game for the Class C–1 state championship...

.THESE KEARNEY CATHOLIC STARS ARE A TEAM EASY TO TALK ABOUT AS THE 2014 SEASON APPROACHES.

THEY'RE GOING TO BE GOOD, FAVORITES TO WIN THEIR CLASS C1–6 DISTRICT, PERHAPS PROHIBITIVE FAVORITES WITH GRAND ISLAND CENTRAL CATHOLIC AND HOLDREGE

BATTTLING FOR 2ND.

LAST YEAR'S 7–3 MARK INCLUDED 2 OVERTIME LOSSES AND THE OTHER BY JUST A TOUCHDOWN TO BOONE CENTRAL NEWMAN GROVE.

DAVE COLLINGS' STARS RETURN THE ENTIRE FIVE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN, SOME OF WHOM ARE ALL STATE QUALITY AND WHO ALSO PLAY DEFENSE AND THEIR QUARTERBACK JOHN MASKER WHO COMPLETED SIXTY TWO PERCENT OF HIS PASSES...THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD NUCLEUS.

YEAH WE HAVE OUR WHOLE LINE RETURNING ALL OF THEM FROM LAST YEAR AND I REALLY LIKE THAT BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I'M GETTING TOUCHED TOO MUCH.

JOHN MASKER AT QUARTERBACK IS A GREAT ASSET TO HAVE AND ALL THE GUYS ON THE LINE I PLAY WITH  ARE JUST FANTASTIC  AND EVERY SINGLE GUY ON THIS TEAM THEY'RE JUST SO AWESOME TO PLAY WITH.

HERE IS WHAT ELSE MAKES KEARNEY CATHOLIC A BIG TIME TEAM. THEY HAVE 3 LINEMEN THAT WEIGH OVER 260 POUNDS AND ALSO HAVE COMPLETE PLAYER IN NATHAN HOWE WHO NOT ONLY AVERAGES SIX YARDS A CARRY RUSHING THE FOOTBALL BUT MADE 130 TACKLES FROM HIS LINEBACKER POSITION

PEOPLE WE LOOK VERY GOOD BUT A LOT OF THINGS HAVE GOT TO HAPPEN THERE'S A LOT OF LUCK INVOLVED AS YOU KNOW BUT WE JUST HAVE TO GET BETTER FROM WEEK ONE TO WEEK TWO TO WEEK THREE TO WEEK FOUR AND IF WE DO THAT BY WEEK 12, 13 WE'LL BE PLAYING OUR BEST FOOTBALL.

SO WITH PLAYMARKERS ALL OVER THE PLACE HUSKERLAND PREP PEGS THEM FOR 8 WINS AND POSSIBLY A PERFECT REGULAR SEASON AT 9–0 AS THESE STARS ARE ALMOST CERTAIN TO SHINE TO AND POSSIBLY ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE STATE C–1 PLAYOFFS.
