Students went about the school day at Central Elementary as Tuesday, but one teacher was noticeably missing.
Monday night, the Kearney Public School board voted to end Candace Flavell's contract with the district-- effective immediately.
Flavell was put in the spotlight during a nearly seven hour School Board meeting last month.
It all centered around the former Central Elementary teacher missing 11 days within the first 6 weeks of classes after she traveled to Maryland for religious services.
During the October meeting, Flavell was offered an agreement to be on paid administrative leave until the end of the semester, then serve as a paraprofessional, at that position's rate of pay for the second semester.
After Flavell turned down the deal, the school board voted 5 to 1 Monday night to end her contract.
As to whether Flavell will appeal the decision? Messages left for her attorney were not returned.
