     A Celebration of Life Service for Keith F. Johnson will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Adams officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege. Military honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the funeral service at the church by the United States Navy Military Honors Team.

     Keith Fredrick Johnson, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. Keith was born May 2, 1940 at Holdrege, the eldest of two children born to Charles Lester and Helen Kathryn (Boschult) Johnson. He received his primary education from District #56 and District #39 and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1958. Keith then pursued higher education at the Milford Trade School in Milford, Nebraska, where he studied the field of Mechanics, graduating in 1960.

   Following his education, Keith was inducted into the United States Navy and served during the Korean War from September 5, 1961 until April 22, 1963 when he was honorably discharged. He then continued to serve in a reserve capacity until September 4, 1967. After his service to his country, Keith began a career as a Mechanic at a service station in Holdrege.

     On March 12, 1967, Keith was united in marriage to Delta Mae Deselms and to this union two children were born: Kathryn Mae and Charles Glenn. Keith then began a long career at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in the maintenance department from January of 1968 until his retirement as Maintenance Supervisor in May of 2002.

     Keith was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege and was an active member of the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66. Throughout the years in his spare time, Keith enjoyed attending stock car races and antique tractor shows.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Barbara Mae Rogers and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Glenn and Hazel Deselms.

     Keith leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Delta Mae Johnson; daughter, Kathy Rogers and her husband, William; son, Charles Johnson all of Holdrege; two grandchildren: Justin Rogers and his wife, Jessica of Garden City, Kansas and Jennifer Rogers of Franklin, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren; sister, Kathy Bryan and her husband, Steve of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

   There will be a memorial book signing at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

     A memorial has been established in Keith’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
