A study released today ranks Nebraska in the top five states for kids' economic well-being.
The 25th edition of Kids Count highlights positives and negatives in health, safety, education and overall Well-being of kids across the country.
While Nebraska ranks high for economic well-being, Voices for Children in Nebraska said there are worrisome trends in child poverty scores.
Currently 18% of Nebraska kids live in poverty, up from 15% in 2005.
National poverty rates decreased from 18 to 16% from 1990 to 2000.
Now that rate is at 22%.
