One group is fighting cancer, one head of hair at a time.
More than 100 people stopped for a hair cut to support the cause at the Conestoga Mall in Grand Island this afternoon. Kuts for Katelyn is raising money to help a five year old Grand Island girl. Katelyn was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer last February. It's so rare that doctors have only seen two other cases of it worldwide. A few friends of the family hosted Kuts for Katelyn as a way to help out with her medical expenses.
"To watch her have to go through the treatment she's going through is heartbreaking so if the least I can do is donate an afternoon of my time to at least help with the finances I feel like that's so easy," said Ashley Niedfelt, one of the organizers of the event.
Team Katelyn will also be hosting the sparkle on Katelyn golf tournament in Centura on July 20th.
