Larry D. Robbins, 56 of Sumner, died, Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Sumner east campus with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating. Burial will be at the Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Sumner east campus or the Sumner Volunteer Fire Department. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at www.hlmkfuneral.com. Larry was born November 11, 1957 in Kearney to Manly and Ellen (Bednar) Robbins. He graduated from Sumner-Eddyville-Miller High School in 1976. He worked at various jobs and farmed in the Sumner area. Larry married Gloria Kleckner on April 4, 1981 in Miller, Nebraska. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. Larry loved the outdoors, fishing, sporting events, and cattle. He took great pride in seeing the results of hard work, and seeing the accomplishments of his children. Larry enjoyed his family, friends, and being a part of the Sumner community.

Larry is survived by his wife Gloria of Sumner, NE, sons: Deric Robbins of Sumner, NE, Scott Robbins and his fiancé Laura Witte of Sumner, NE, daughter Laura Robbins and her fiancé Alex Bowen of Sumner, NE, sister Linda Knispel and her husband Curt of Kearney, NE., in-laws Richard and Arlys Kleckner of Miller, NE, sisters-in-law Sandy Bednar and her husband Bob of Miller, NE, Rhonda Hardiman and her husband Steve of Council Bluff, IA, and several nephews and nieces.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents Stanley and Christine Bednar, paternal grandparents Roy and Bessie Robbins, and a great nephew Zac Bednar.
