Leroy Lewis Dixon, 78 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Leroy was born March 24, 1935 on the family farm northeast of Alma in Harlan County, Nebraska the second of six children to Lewis A. and Leila H. (Jensen) Dixon. Leroy was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Alma. He attended District 12 country school in Harlan County and later graduated from the Alma High School with the class of 1953.
On September 10, 1961, Leroy was united in marriage to Eloise Tubridy. They lived and farmed southwest of Hendley until their retirement. The couple then began to make their home Alma where he resided until Leroy’s passing.
Leroy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Beaver City and the Beaver City Masonic Lodge at Beaver City, Nebraska.
Leroy was a member of the CO-OP in Alma.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Marble and her husband, Ronald and Louise June Dixon; brother, Edwin Dixon and his wife, Rose; sister-in-law, Liane Dixon and brother-in-law, Richard Stickney.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife of 52 years, Eloise; brother, Virgil Dixon of Alma and sister, Jane Stickney of Omaha, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Memorial Book Signing will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.
A memorial has been established in Leroy’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
