Attorney General Jon Bruning's Medicaid Fraud Unit has now recovered over 77 million dollars. Bruning announced the Unit recovered more than 13.5 million dollars in 2013.

Since its beginning, the Unit has recovered more than 77 million dollars from violating service providers and drug companies. Recovered funds reimburse the Medicaid program for losses and can be applied to legal fees specific to each case.

Bruning established the Unit in 2004 to investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud and patient abuse. As of 2006, the Unit has been self-funding.
