Today the legislature challenged the Governor yet again... but State Senators decided to side with Governor Heineman, This morning the unicameral floor debated overriding the Governor's veto on banning mountain lion hunting.

Senator Ernie Chambers' bill passed in the legislature with 28 Senators in support. However, once the bill got to the Governor's desk, Governor Heineman vetoed the bill. LB 671 would have banned mountain lion hunting in the state. In his motion to override the veto, Senator Chambers needed 30 of his colleagues to show their support. The bill fell short with only 24 Senators voting in favor of overriding the Governor's veto.
