The Garfield County Attorney has ruled the deaths of Christopher Melling and his daughter Aimee Melling a murder-suicide. Autopsy results revealed both died from gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators believe that Christopher Melling used a shotgun to kill his daughter then took his own life sometime between Saturday night and Tuesday morning.
The deaths came after Christopher's wife Tammi was arrested and booked into Valley County jail on domestic assault charges on Friday, January 3rd. Christopher complained that his wife threatened and struck him during an argument.
No formal charges have been filed and at this time investigators do not consider Tammie Melling a suspect in the deaths of Christopher and Aimee Melling. Aimee Melling would have turned three years old on Sunday.
