Nebraska is one of 25 states that did not expand it's Medicaid system with the Affordable Care Act.

Governor Heineman has said it's a move the state can't afford and an attempt for expansion was short lived in the last legislative session.

But a group of State Senators are at it again. Today Senator Kathy Campbell introduced the Wellness In Nebraska act. The act, referred to as WIN, would provide Medicaid coverage under Obamacare to newly eligible low income individuals.

"Wellness In Nebraska is about all of us. Premium assistance, monthly premiums, wellness incentives, patient centered primary care and other innovations in the win act strengthen our private sector insurance market and transform our health care system."

The bill uses the private marketplace to cover adults between 100 and 133 percent of the federal poverty line. For those under 100 percent of the poverty line, it provides coverage through the Medicaid delivery system.
