A bill advanced today that would allow for more independence for the state's nurse practitioners. LB 671, sponsored by Bellevue Senator Sue Crawford, would allow nurse practitioners to work with a physician without a contract.

It would also remove the requirement that a nurse practitioner complete a minimum of two thousand hours of practice under the supervision of physician. Senator Crawford says this move would help remove requirements that encourage nurse practitioners to leave the state. The bill will now head to the unicameral floor for a final reading.
