Ninety-eight percent of Nebraskans with a driver's license are also registered to vote, but for one State Senator, that's not enough.
Senator Bob Krist has introduced a bill that would open up voter registration to an online system-- something he says would not only increase accuracy but also enhance the maintenance of the voter registration database.
If the bill passes, Nebraskans with a driver's license could soon register to vote on Nebraska's Secretary of State's website and the Secretary of State himself is one of many speaking out in support of the bill.
"Those items that we're capturing through this bill are going to be very, very helpful in terms of cost savings, in terms of accuracy and also in terms of convenience for the voters," said Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale in front of the Government, Military and Veterans Affairs committee.
Senator Krist has also introduced a bill that could change voter identification restrictions in Nebraska.
