Republican gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts reacts as the fallout continues over the early release of hundreds of state prisoners.
An Omaha World Herald investigation revealed the state miscalculated the prison sentences of more than 750 inmates. Ricketts stopped in Grand Island today. He said he agrees with Governor Heineman's reaction and decision to recalculate the sentences.
"Something that never should've happened and it should never happen again and one of the things we need to do is have a review of the prison system and that's one of the things I think Governor Heinemann is doing right now and its absolutely appropriate. I don't want to point any fingers until the investigation is done but certainly what I want to do as governor is make sure we have the right people in place running all of our organizations," Ricketts said.
