Coach Bo Pelini said that if Taylor Martinez isn't readyto go at quarterback against Illinois, he'll likely start redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong, as he did last week against South Dakota State.
Just like last game, Ron Kellogg may get some snaps, too.
Husker players are impressed with Tommy's command as a young player.
"I think he's very mature for his age, he's very smooth in the backfield, you can see it watching on film everything's very smooth. You can see he's calm and collected and we all rally behind him and if he's our starting quarterback, he's our starting quarterback as an offensive line, whoever is back there we have to keep him clean."
"They both have similar playing styles, obviously Taylor is much faster but they both carry a different type of confidence kind of a swagger to the game. They both love to win, they both did it in high school and both are competitors on the field."
Both Tommy Arnstrong and Ron Kellogg were excellent in relief of Taylor Martinez against South Dakota State.
Tommy was 12 of 15 for 166 yards and a touchdown, Ron 8 of 9 for 136 and one TD as we close in one gametime.
