A recent poll shows the majority of Nebraskans support increasing the state's minimum wage. 55 Percent supported the increase, while 33 percent opposed.
State Senator Jeremy Nordquist proposed a bill in the Legislature that would raise the minimum wage to 9 dollars over the next three years. It's currently 7 dollars and 25 cents an hour. The poll was conducted by the Voices for Children group.
Results show that women support the increase by almost a 3 to 1 ratio. The study also shows that families in Hall and Adams County have a more than 11 thousand dollar wage short fall, while Buffalo County shows a shortfall of more than 12 thousand dollars.
