President Barack Obama has approved a request for a disaster declaration for parts of Nebraska impacted by winter weather and severe storms in October.
Gov. Dave Heinemen received notification of the approval Tuesday.
The public assistance declaration means there will be assistance for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster damaged facilities for the following counties: Adams, Dawes, Dixon, Howard, Sheridan, Sherman, Sioux, Thurston and Wayne.
"Nebraskans appreciate approval of public assistance funding for the October 2013 storms," Heineman said in a press release. "This will assist in the recovery process following storms taht caused millions of dollars in damage in the state."
Nebraska was hit with winter weather, severe storms, tornadoes and also flooding Oct. 2-6.
