Detour. That's what Grand Island drivers will experience along Webb road for the next few weeks. On Monday the Webb Road, Blaine/Custer, and Broadwell Avenue crossings were all closed and will be for the next three weeks as Union Pacific makes improvements.

Construction includes leveling the mainline tracks and improvements to the roadways, but, this project will cause a detour for local drivers.

"The combination of those crossing carry about 28,000 vehicles per day so in the meantime motorists are going to have to go in different directions," said Scott Griepenstroh from the Grand Island Public Works Department.

Next week Lincoln Avenue, Walnut Street, Pine Street and the Oak Street crossings will all be closed.
