Central City residents will get their chance to recall School Board Kent Malm.

On Wednesday the Merrick County Clerk verified the necessary signatures.

489 signatures were needed.

Petition organizer Kip Lenhart collected 586.

Merrick County Clerk Marcia Wichman told News 5 that the petition was accepted.

And, Kent Malm and the Central City school board have been notified.

Now, the District will need to decide when the recall election will be held.

School Board meetings went from nearly unattended to unruly in April over the decision to fire football coach Darrin Garfield.

A group of concerned citizens formed shortly after to recall three school board members...

...They were citing a lack of responsiveness to concerns raised by public and staff.

The petitions to recall school board members Dale Palser and Steve Belitz were deemed invalid in August.

They did not state whether the petitioners were volunteer or paid.

If the election was today, who would you vote for Grand Island mayor?
