Robert H. Vieth, 94, of Grand Island, died Monday, December 16, 2013, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with military honors. Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be at a later date in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Vieth was born March 19, 1919 at Chapman, Nebraska to Henry and Clara (Bove) Vieth.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bob and Sandy Vieth of Cairo and Gary Vieth of Honolulu, HI; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jerry Lammers of Pleasanton; sister, Irene Luebbe of Grand Island and a sister-in-law, Irene Vieth of Grand Island.
His memory will also be cherished by four grandchildren, Marc (Kim) Vieth, Cortney (Don) Klein, Chad (Kori) Vieth, and Sean (Heather) Hennings; seven great-grandchildren, Nash and Shaw Klein, Brady, Bailey, Kelby and Dalton Vieth and Peyton Hennings.
He was preceded in death by his wife, December 29, 2001; a sister, Caroline Stolle and a brother, Arnold Vieth.
Robert was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1937. During WWII, he entered the United States Army on March 24, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 5, 1946.
Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Kotschwar on September 26, 1943 at Alhambra, CA. After completing his military duty, the couple farmed east of Grand Island in Merrick County until their retirement when they moved to Grand Island. Robert was a devoted Husker football fan and his enjoyments include camping, fishing and traveling.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Radio Ministry.
