Ronald D. Robinson, 83 of Grand Island died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society, Wood River.

Ronald D. RobinsonServices will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island.  Reverend Richard L. Piontkowski will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

To honor Mr. Robinson’s wishes cremation has taken place.  There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Robinson was born May 21, 1930 at Grand Island the son of Raymond and Rose (Bosler) Robinson.

His wife, Doris preceded him in death last December.

Survivors of the immediate family include son, Rod Robinson and daughter, Renee Reher both of Grand Island; grandson, Seth Reher of Lincoln; brothers, Richard Robinson of Slidell, Louisiana and Randy Robinson of Grand Island and sisters, Rogene and Bryce Feldman of Grand Island and Rita and Robert Peterson of Fremont.

Ron was raised and received his education in Grand Island.  He was united in marriage to Doris Reher on January 27, 1951.  Ron started working for Kelly Well Co. in 1946 and then started his own well drilling company in 1963.  He retired in 2000.

He was active in amateur boxing as both a boxer and coach.  Ron was inducted into the Great Plains Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame in 1983.  He was a great outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and camping.  He spent many hours on the Loup and Platte Rivers.
