It is already illegal to force a woman to have an abortion, but one Nebraska State Senator wants that in bold print at abortion clinics.

Papillion Senator, Bill Kintner introduced LB 1032 this session.

It would require clinics to post signs in the waiting room that states a woman cannot be coerced or forced into having an abortion.

"We have signs in bars about fetal alcohol syndrome for pregnant women. On airplanes we go through all the safety procedures, every time you're on the plane you have to listen to it. We have all kinds of warnings that we put out there that we think people need to see during critical times." Said Papillion State Senator Bill Kintner.

The Judiciary Committee heard testimony on Thursday from a woman who says she may have made a different decision had those signs been posted when she had an abortion.

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland testified against the bill, saying women already undergo counseling that takes coercion into consideration.

The committee took no immediate action on the bill.
