The race to replace US Senator Mike Johanns in Washington just got a little more crowded.

Secretary of State John Gale announced Thursday that enough signatures have been verified to put Jim Jenkins on the ballot as an independent in November.

Jenkins turned in nearly 6,000 signatures late last month to the Secretary of State. 4,000 valid signatures were needed to be put on the ballot.

And another candidate could soon be added to the list. US Senate candidate Todd Watson submitted more than 5,300 signatures to the Secretary of State's office yesterday. Once processed, those signatures will be sent to the county election officials for verification.

Republican Ben Sasse and Democrat Dave Domina are already on the general election ballot after advancing from the primary in May.
