Lawmakers will be in session again today in Lincoln. Yesterday, state senators heard testimony regarding a bill that would allow veterans to take advantage of in-state tuition rates.

LB 470 makes veterans who served within the past two years eligible for in-state tuition. Spouses and dependents will also be included.

Current policy prevents many Veterans from using GI Bill benefits once they have left the service. Military spouses spoke in front of a Legislative committee say relocation makes it nearly impossible to complete their degree while their husbands serve.

No one testified in opposition to the bill and there was no immediate action taken by the committee.
