Shirley C. Harms the eldest of 11 children of Paul and Helen (Vap) McLaughlin was born August 3, 1927 at Alliance, Nebraska. She departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 86 years.

Shirley graduated from Edgar High School. She was united in marriage to Walter Emil Pofahl and to this union three children were born: Deanna, Gary and Patricia. Shirley was then married to Carl Harms and together they owned and operated Carl's Place in Edgar, NE for 16 years. Carl and Shirley moved to Hastings in 1967 where Shirley held various jobs.

Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly enjoyed sewing and quilting when time allowed and found great joy in giving her creations away to family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl Harms, siblings: Dean, Clark, Janis Buckles, and Sally Scheve and a grandson David Bohling.

Survivors include her children: Deanna Bohling and husband Bill of Green Valley, AZ; Patricia Schrier and husband Jim of Lincoln, NE; Gary Pofahl of Nelson, NE; grandchildren: Laura Bohling; Kimberly Wright; Richelle Pechar and Travis Pofahl and Deanna; brothers and sisters: Craig McLaughlin and Kathy; Gayle Lamb and Leonard; Bill McLaughlin and Ruth; Sharon Kenley; Linda Bruns and Donnie; 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday 3:00 PM, September 26, 2013 at the Church of the Plains in Edgar, NE. Pastor Don Canady will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 am to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family at Williams Funeral Home of Edgar, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
