Shirley R. Cool, 83, of Kearney died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Rev. Dean Pofahl will officiate and burial will be at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation is planned Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. and prior to services on Monday. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. A message of condolence, tribute or memory can be left at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services of Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

She was born August 23, 1930 in Putnam County, MO to Henry B. and Rema I. (Golden) Hicks. In August of 1947 the family moved from the family farm in Mercer County, MO to Clinton, MO. She graduated from Clinton High School in June of 1948 then attended Business College and Junior College in Kansas City, MO.

She married Julius F. (Frank) Dreher in Hays, KS on January 2, 1960. He was killed in a commercial airline crash on January 18, 1960. On October 13, 1962 she married Bert W. Cool at the Community Christian Church in Kansas City, MO

She worked for Arthur Anderson & Co. Accounting until September of 1975 the she and her husband Bert moved to Amherst, NE and later moved to Oberlin, KS. She moved to Kearney in 2008.

Surviving relatives include sons, Michael E. and wife Diane cool, of Amherst, NE, Stephen R. and wife Linda Cool of Grand Island, NE; daughter, Marsha A. and husband J. Michael Enyart, of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, Jeremey M. Cool of Amherst, Nicole L. and husband Erick Hollingsworh of Kearney, Justin M. Enyart of Moberly, MO, Joshua S. Cool, of Kearney, NE, William A. Cool of Amherst; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Jeanette Lindberg, of Roanoke, IL, Beverly A. and husband Frank Gilmore of Shell Knob, MO; brother-in-law Harold and wife Bonnie Cool of Broken Bow, NE and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, granddaughter; Christine Cool and niece; Debbie Hileman.
