Each year at this time we see recently graduated senior football players get a chance to play one more high school game.
It is the North–South Shrine Football game, and it is this Saturday at Foster Field in Kearney...
One of the Young Patients of the Shriners Hospitcal visited both camps today, the South football players at Doane College and the North at Nebraska Wesleyan .
The South team visited the Chicago Shriners Hospital yesterday and the North was in St. Louis.
They were more than anxioius to talk about the upcoming game, but even more enthusiastic to speak of their trips to those Shrienrs Hospitals as strong legs run so weak legs may walk.
THAT'S A GOOD MOTTO BECAUSE THOSE KIDS LOOK UP TO US I MEAN YOU WALK IN AND ITS LIKE WE'RE PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES. I MEAN THE WAY THEY LOOK AT US IS REALLY SPECIAL.
YOU KNOW GOING TO THE HOSPITAL AS WE DID YESTERDAY AND SEEING SOME OF THE KIDS WHO CAN'T DO THE THINGS THAT WE DO THAT'S THE REASON WHY WE'RE PLAYING THIS. WE PLAYED SOME WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL WITH THEM BECAUSE THAT'S ALL THEY CAN DO SO WE INTERACTED WITH THEM AND IT WAS REALLY FUN SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO SATURDAY.
I MEAN WE MET SOME PRETTY INCREDIBLE KIDS WITH PRETTY INCREDIBLE STORIES AND US PLAYING THAT GAME MEANS A WORLD TO THEM, IT HELPS FUND THEM AND WE JUST LEARNED ST. LOUIS IS GETTING A NEW HOSPITAL AND JUST KNOWING THE GAME WILL HELP THEM AND ALL THE KIDS.
So this entire caravan moves West from Crete and Lincoln to Kearney Saturday.
Most years the game has been played at the home of the Huskers in Lincoln, now it will be at the home of the Lopers in Kearney for the 2nd straight year, fine
