They'll leave tomorrow for a familiar location for Husker fans and former players.
When they were members of the Big 12, the Nebraska baseball team made a trip to Stillwater every other year to take on the Cowboys of Oklahoma State....
This time the Big Red will see the Titans of Cal–State Fullerton in this 4 team NCAA regional tournament, a program that has won 4 College World Series championships and been to the CWS in Omaha 16 times.
The Titans slumped early this season, but like these Huskers, came on strong late to earn an NCAA bid.
Being sent to Stillwater is a logical location for Nebraska to be.
ME AND MIKE SIT NEXT TO EACH OTHER ON THE BUS ON BUS TRIPS AND WE KIND OF HAD A DECENT IDEA THAT IT WOULD BE STILLWATER WHERE WE WOULD LAND BUT WE'RE JUST HAPPY TO GET IN AND EXCITED TO GET DOWN THERE.
PRETTY EXCITED TO BE BACK WHERE WE WANT TO BE AND I'M REALLY PROUD OF THIS GROUP OF GUYS LET'S GO DOWN THERE AND SEE WHAT WE CAN DO.
WHY WOULDN'T YOU MODEL YOURSELF AGAINST SOMEONE WHO'S BEEN THERE JUST ABOUT AS MUCH AS ANYBODY. I REMEMBER THEM FROM MY ANAHEIM DAYS AND ALWAYS LIKED WHAT THEY DO SO I CAN'T WAIT TO GET DOWN THERE AND FACE OFF AGAINST THEM.
f course win or lose Friday in this double elimination affair, Nebraska plays again Saturday.
Their goal is to win this four team regional and go to a best 2 of 3 Super Regional likely at #1 seed Oregon State.
The winner of that Super Regional is one of the field of 8 at the 2014 College World Series June 15–24 but we're getting way ahead of ourselves.
