Many if not most of the football players in tomorrow's 56th Annual North–South Shrine Bowl at Foster Field in Kearney will soon be playing college football...
So as these guys are in camp this week, they'll use these practices and the game as a dress rehersal of what they'll face in about 2 months when college football practices begin.
That is true of 2 state champion Cozad Haymakers, Jacob Stallbaumer who's going to Doane and Alex Boryca who'll walk on and try and make Bo Pelini's team at Nebraska.
Right now I mean its just kind of a good like this is what is what it is going to be like when I go to college so it's a good warm up for me.
Just getting used to the 2 a days you know its been hot already this June and we had a couple of hot practices and got to get used to keep pushing through and running 60 plays a day for practice and just got to get used to it I guess, get me back in shape a little bit. Are you in shape now? Yeah I think so, my legs are kind of recovered and I'm ready to go again for this last little push here.
This week, the South worked out at Doane College while the North squad prepped at Nebraska Wesleyan.
The teams have made the journey west, way went and worked out at Foster Field in Kearney where this Shrine Bowl will be played for the 2nd straight year after many years at Memorial Stadium, home of the Huskers.
