State Senator Pete Pirsch is shifting gears after 8 years in Nebraska's legislature.
He's making a 14 city tour to announce his run for State Auditor.
The state Auditor provides independent reviews of financial operations of the state and local governments.
Pirsch says his experience as a lawyer and state senator will be beneficial as an auditor.
"That's where my emphasis has been in great part is working on accountability and efficiency and transparency in both our taxing and our spending. So, it's kind of a natural gravitation to this position." Said Pirsch.
Current State Auditor, Mike Foley is ineligible for re-election, ashe's making a run for Nebraska's next Governor.
