A close call Tuesday morning at an elementary school in Grand Island after a Stolley Park Elementary student was hit by a car on her way to school.

The six year old student had no visible injuries and was assessed and released at the scene.

The accident happened shortly before 8 AM this morning at William and Stolley Park Road.

Police said they've found the driver who had stopped, and then left the scene.

Kerry Glandt, of Grand Island, told police he thought he hit the young girl's umbrella and left after she said she was okay.

Glandt was referred for leaving the scene of an injury accident.
